Trump Convicted of Fraud, Fined $355 Million

Donald Trump, the former US President, has been ordered to pay a massive fine of nearly $355 million (£330 million) because of fraud. He’s also banned from running a company in New York for three years.

A judge in New York made this decision on Friday. Trump can’t even ask for loans in New York for the next three years. His business, The Trump Organization, faces the same restrictions.

Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, are also affected. They’re banned from doing business in New York for two years and must each pay a $4 million fine.

A special person will watch over the Trump family’s business dealings for the next three years, the judge decided.

The case was brought by New York’s prosecutor, Letitia James. She said Trump and his family lied about how much their business was worth to get better bank loan deals. They claimed it was worth $3.6 billion more than it was.

Trump, who is a member of the Republican Party, says he did nothing wrong and believes the case is unfair because James is a Democrat. He plans to appeal the decision.

Trump is facing four more legal battles, including another in New York. He’s accused of hiding a payment to Stormy Daniels, a film star, to keep her quiet about their past. He’s also being looked into for mishandling secret documents and trying to overturn his loss in the 2020 US Election.
