PM Modi’s Visit to Russia

During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia, the Ostankino Tower in Moscow was lit up in the colours of the Indian tricolour. This gesture honoured PM Modi’s state visit and has gone viral on social media. The Ostankino Tower, a prominent television and radio tower in Moscow, was designed by architect Nikolai Nikitin.

PM Modi is on a two-day official visit to Russia. He will participate in the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Besides the summit, he will address the Indian community in Moscow.

Grand Welcome at Carlton Hotel

Upon arriving at the Carlton Hotel, Prime Minister Modi was greeted warmly by the Indian community. His visit to Moscow on 8 and 9 July aims to strengthen the relationship between India and Russia. PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the visit on Twitter, saying, “Landed in Moscow. I look forward to further deepening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between our nations, especially in futuristic areas of cooperation. Stronger ties between our nations will greatly benefit our people.”

Strengthening India-Russia Relations

Before leaving Delhi, Prime Minister Modi shared his expectations for the visit. He stated, “I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing views on regional and global issues.” The strategic partnership between India and Russia has grown significantly over the last decade, encompassing energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Previous Visit in 2019

Prime Minister Modi last visited Russia in September 2019 for the 20th India-Russia Bilateral Summit, held alongside the 5th Eastern Economic Summit in Vladivostok. He was the chief guest then, marking another milestone in the strong relationship between the two nations.

PM Modi’s current visit underscores the continuing importance of the India-Russia partnership and its mutual benefits to both countries. The illuminated Ostankino Tower symbolizes this enduring friendship.
