Poland asks EU to limit Ukrainian grain exports

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has requested the European Commission to implement measures to limit Ukrainian grain exports. Morawiecki believes that the influx of Ukrainian wheat into Poland has destabilized the Polish market. He has requested the EU to use regulations such as quotas and customs duties to limit or block the entry of Ukrainian wheat into Poland as a final destination.

Polish farmers have also protested against the arrival of Ukrainian grain, which stays in Poland long before being transferred to other countries. This has affected local stocks and caused prices to fall. Morawiecki believes that this problem results from a mechanism set up by the EU in response to the Russian military invasion.
